So I bought a little black notebook for taking notes during Shadowloo Showdown 2k11 so that I could write a detailed recap.

Turns out, the event was so hectic, stressful and fun, that I ended up not using it at all. And my memories of SS2k11 have turned into this big mushball of happenings that is too incoherent to turn into a recap.

About the only useful thing I wrote on my notebook was; “What is a Gootecks?”

The day after Shadowloo Showdown, I went to Bluehouse arcade and ended up playing Mooseking and Zerolance. I whipped out my little black book…and decided to write down my wins and losses.

So I started thinking it might be useful to keep a log of my arcade matches as I basically play at Bluehouse every work day. I could track my progress, see how do I against certain characters and players, and monitor my win rate.

So one full month later, I present my log from the 28th of June 2011, to the 28th of July 2011.

I write my matches down chronologically, and the system I used interestingly enough, evolved over time.

I named every player I knew, and made an effort to ask the names of people I didn’t know.

Initially for players that I didn’t know, I labelled them as “unnamed’. Later on I realised I needed to differentiate between unnamed players who don’t really know how to play, and unnamed players who are actually competent and good.

So somehow I took to calling the unnamed mashers “Random” and unnamed good players “That (insert character here) guy”.

Not the most complimentary system, I know!

But it allows me to check my “real” win rate against people who actually know how to play.

So here are some stats:

Win/Loss against everybody: 114 Wins/ 98 Losses, total 212 games played, 53.7% Win percentage.

Win/Loss with Randoms removed (I.E. my real win/loss ratio): 73 Wins/ 93 Losses, 43.9 % Win percentage.

Guys who beat my ass the most:

Jeff: 0-15 Chun Li, 1-1 Honda.

KiLok: 0-14 Ryu, 0-1 Fei Long, 2-0 Sakura.

Other notes:

I am 4-12 against Yuns.

I always thought I can never beat Vivid’s Zangief, so it’s very surprising to see that I actually beat him 3 times. (3-14)

In the Ryu mirror I am 15-36, 41.6 %. So apparently I really suck at the mirror. Minusing Random Ryus from the list makes it 12-33 or 36.3 %. Zzzzzz.

Notes: I need to work on the following matchups- Gief, Fei, Chun, and the mirror. (The stats are probably singlehandedly skewed by KiLok and Jeff though. Perhaps I should run a sheet without them in it.)

All in all, it has been a very interesting and fun exercise to delve through my stats. I think I will keep on tracking my W/Ls in the future, and that way I can track my progress month by month. Maybe I should keep more detailed information like rounds, how many jump ins I ate, etc.

What I would really like to do is to tape all my matches, and have an automated tracking program go through it and spit out stats like:

Clk clp slp chk %: 82% for example

Fhp chp srk %: 70% etc

Hit confirm completion ratio

Fireballs thrown/fireballs hit

Thrown/teched

Jump ins ate/Successful anti-air (Would really like to keep track of this)

First hit/Opponent first hit

Meter usage per round/meter gained

Counterhits/opponent counterhits

Crossups eaten/crossups Dped or blocked

Total combo completion %

Opponent fireballs blocked, absorbed, jumped/ Opponent fireballs eaten

1st round win %

2nd round win %

Deciding round win % (Would really like to know this too.)

I want advanced stats similar to the NBA scout reports to chew on. True shooting % yeah!

So that’s it for my monthly arcade log; this month I have only played 18 out of 23 workdays because of staff lunches, repairing my notebook etc. So I don’t have that many matches to crunch. Next month!

In conclusion, I have to say; thank God Bluehouse is now $1 per play instead of $2!!!!!
