Being a Sentinel Scrub…with videos!

This is the second part to my post Being a Sentinel Scrub.

I got horribly exposed at CW as a fraud and a scrub in Marvel and SSFIV respectively.

Oh well, thanks to Bugs and the Shadowloo guys for putting up the vids. I think this is the only tournament footage anywhere in the world…of me actually winning. What a rare archaeological find.

Anyway, you’re not going to find any actual good gameplay moments from me here, just big LOL moments:

Burnout clearly is a better player and has a better Ammie than me to boot. He never misses his bnb, even though he flies over the body of the opponent mid air combo and still manages to autocorrect the super in the right direction! (I always get slow super.)

LOL moment:

1- 3:56 I try to do a shuffle, and somehow get a lvl 3. And it somehow hits. I was not being ume, it was dumb, blind luck.

2- Every game when I get outplayed and just mash launcher with Sentinel for the win.

I play Cactus on PSN a bit, so at least we both know what to expect from each other’s teams.

LOL moment:

5:03: Oh shitdarkphoenixisoutandisrampagingthroughmyteamohgodohgod…wait she just ate one random super and died?

The end of my run. Not too many lol moments here, because Carnage just owns me ๐Ÿ™‚

Edit: I almost forgot, check out Shadowloo’s playlist of the top 8 to see some actual good players!

hehe, Buttons… keep at it ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Spoony says:

Wow, you actually did really good vs Carnage. Took him down to Sent both games, and almost took out his Sent in that second game. Ah well.

Also, didn’t you go 2-2 in SF at CW? That’s hardly “getting exposed”. Or did you get two byes? Either way, I’m pretty sure you came 13th out of 35 or so.

I think you just need more practice vs Kyle. If you can calm down vs Kyle, and pretend you’re Akuma vs his vega, you’ll get into top 8. And that’s a Spoony Promise.

    • muttonhead says:

Well actually I was referring to losing to THK three times in a row at the arcade…nah yeah I did go 2-2. It was more the fact that I was so close to getting my shot at top 8 in SSF4, something that I’ve wanted for so long.

And I doubt the brackets will be as kind to me next time.

Hey you’re right, the games vs. Carnage are a lot less one-sided than I remember. Ironic that I probably played my best and not so flukey in the game that I actually lost.

Oh well, gotta have to practice even more.

    • Kyle says:

I agree with Spoony 100%. I played against Sol’s Ryu and all he did was run straight at me and I couldn’t do anything. Against players who let me hit and run, I can do ok, but people who know to just stick to me, I have lots of trouble.

You really are better than me, you just get sucked into my game.

      • muttonhead says:

I just took too long to adapt. I gave away the first game for free without ever really getting into gear.

But no excuses, and if you beat me consistently in tournament you are the better player. Even if you don’t have the best execution or knowledge, I think the things you have like patience and “not cracking” are just as important to gauging a player’s skill level.

  4. Somniac says:

SF4 army of Sagat reigned for a year, this is now the time for the army of Sentinal!
I never get conscripted though ๐Ÿ˜€

    • muttonhead says:

Haha yeah, the Sentinel army is strong and multiplying.

I might end up eating my words, but because I have Ammy on my team, Sentinel is not that insurmountable an obstacle for me…
(As I said, I might up eating my words)

But I find Wesker really, really owns me bad. I can’t block the teleport+ Sentinel assist mixups at all. Though it might just be the Toxy factor.

  5. Congrats on the top 3, man!
